A truck bed full of appliances from San Lorenzo
This August we picked up one of the biggest single-household donations we’ve had in a while. A woman from San Lorenzo reached out with a whole list: a laundry center, a refrigerator, a separate washer and dryer, a computer monitor, and a few smaller household items to go with them.
Four appliances in one trip is a lot, and our truck felt it. Everything was carefully wrapped and made it to us in great shape.
The part of this story we keep retelling: she found us by asking ChatGPT. She wanted her appliances to go to refugee families who would actually use them, asked where to donate in the Bay Area, and the answer was Tech Aid for Refugees. However people find us — a friend, a search, or an AI — what matters is that this equipment goes straight to families who are starting over and need it.
A washer and dryer mean a family doesn’t spend evenings at a laundromat. A refrigerator means groceries for the week instead of shopping every day. A monitor means a kid does homework on something bigger than a phone. Thank you, San Lorenzo!
If you have working appliances or electronics you no longer need, we’ll put them in the right hands — see the donate page or just write to us.
